Role: Director. Producer. Editor
Shootout was our most intense production of 2012. It was also the first official collaboration with Jason Fowler who provided the entirety of the Nerf Gun Arsenal that you see in the film. The idea was to fill the void that was left by another project falling through by taking why resources we had and putting them into the hands of people we knew. After making a few calls and getting some local kids involved, we drafted a script together, found a location and set a single day in which to shoot our film. The story, which was haphazardly thrown together in a matter of days, was meant to focus on the escalation of the action and was to resemble an old timey western shootout.
The story was written as follows;
Open.
MAN carrying a bag enters BAR
We see SNITCH, HIRED GOONS, MAFIA and PUNTER
MAN makes DEAL with SNITCH
Betrayed to HIRED GOONS by SNITCH
GOONS and MAN draw weapons
CARNAGE ENSUES
Stray shot aggravates MAFIA, weapons are drawn.
CARNAGE ESCALATES
PUNTER drinks nonchalantly
CARNAGE ESCALATES.
SNITCH cowers and retrieves weapon. FIRST BLOOD
SNITCH escapes
SNIPER kills snitch and leaves
Stray shot aggravates PUNTER
PUNTER draws weapon
CARNAGE ESCALATES
Numbers dwindle
Final GOON eliminates Mafia.
PUNTER and MAN eliminate final GOON.
Close.
The end result speaks for itself. The film was shot in one afternoon with an additional day added for the brief rooftop sequence.
